Murphy Thomas was born in New York City - the daughter of a secret marriage, a Greek father who survived Nazi occupation, and an Irish mother whose parents fled a country at war.

Before she understood what migration meant, she lived inside it. Her grandparents left Ireland because of the fighting and the danger of staying. Her father's family lost everything - their home, their silver mines, their furniture burned by soldiers - and came to America to start again.

Her father loved America. He said here, if you worked, you could build something back.

Murphy Thomas built OurAmericaStory because she believes him. And because she believes that dream belongs to everyone, everywhere. Because it is our birthright and because she believes dreams come true.
